The machine was just rebooted into an older kernel. After the upgrade yesterday, a lot of disks started giving errors. We are suspecting a driver issue in the new kernel. We've now rebooted into an older kernel and are monitoring the state and behaviour of the disks.

There are several disks reporting a problem on PBS001.tuxis.nl. We will reboot this server. This will interrupt backups for a short period.
