Expected impact: Little to none
One of the links between our datacenters BIT-1 and BIT-2C is showing infrequent linkflaps. These linkflaps are largely unnoticed.
In a previous maintenance window we have cleaned the fibers but this dit not have the desired effect.
Therefor we will replace the optics completely.
This will cause some deliberate linkflaps between the two locations, but since this is a redundant stack setup, no traffic interruptions are expected.
Update 21-11-24 11:50:
Today at 1150u one of the optics stopped working causing the link to go down. We replaced this optic (at 1320u) and are now monitoring the situation.
This issue coincided with issues on our routers but did not cause the routing issues.
Traffic was flowing over other stack-links which ensured that traffic was still possible.
Planned maintenance for 25-11-2024 is still scheduled in case we still need to replace other components.
Update 25-11-24 1303u:
We have decided to cancel this maintenance reservation as there are no further actions needed.
Link has proven to be stable after swapping the optics.
