Switchupgrades location BIT-2A
Timeframe: 19-03-2026 0.00 - 6.00h
Impact: Medium-High
Impacted services: Network, Hypervisors at location

Dear customer,

On Friday, February 20th, we have sent out a general announcement about updates that we need to perform on networking devices in order to fix a number of bugs in those devices.

In the abovementioned timeframe, we will execute this maintenance on the location BIT-2A. During the upgrade, the switches on that location will do a full reboot. During this reboot, servers connected to these switches will be completely unreachable. It will remain powered on, but there will be no network-connectivity. This will be the case at least twice during this maintenance.

Customers with hypervisors on this location are recommended to migrate any virtual machines they may have running on this location. Depending on the OS and configuration of the VM, this maintenance may cause loss of disk access in the VM. Tuxis will make sure that HA is completely disabled during the maintenance, to prevent unexpected reboots (Fencing), but we will not migrate the VM's for customers.

Tuxis services will be migrated to other locations, so this maintenance should not impact any services. However, due to the nature of this upgrade, we do send out a general announcement that our service may be impacted, and that the connectivity on other location may be impacted as well.

Update 0248: all switches on location BIT-2A are upgraded. And all services are operational again.

During the upgrade the direct connection between Ede and Amsterdam went down, to mitigate as many issues as possible we have disabled routing between our core routers in Ede and Amsterdam (thus rerouting this traffic via other routes).
This may have resulted in a short unavailability for your PBS storage and causing running back-up jobs to fail.
At the time of writing all connections are back online, resulting in back-up traffic using the direct connection between Ede and Amsterdam.
